Busy with a new Bear - Panda

Hello Everyone ☺

I am busy making a panda. The Panda is made from cream and a rust colour faux fur. I am very excited and happy with my panda so far, its been a few years since I last made a panda. Will post pictures soon.

Please meet Casey who is looking for his forever home.

This 30cm Bear is made from a synthetic turquolse kohair fur.  Kohair is very soft and Casey came out very soft and cuddly.  He is 5 way jointed and sees through his beautiful metallic blue eyes which I hand painted myself. His legs are bent therefore he can be placed in various positions as seen in the photos. His ears, paws and feet are made from very soft ultra suede blue

I have done extensive sissor and needle sculping on his beautiful face, paws and feet. He comes with a Halcyon Bear sewn in tag.

This sweet little girl is waiting to be completed.  Hope is waiting for her head and ears to be attached. unfortunately she has no patients and cant understand that everyday I have to go off to work although I would love to stay at home and finish her.

HAPPY 2014

Hello everyone and a very happy new year to you all, wishing you all a fantastic 2014.  I am very positive for this year, as last year was a horrible year for me.

At the end of last year I started a bear and posted pictures of all the pieces that I cut out.

Over Christmas and new year we had my brother visiting, so I decided not to work on my bear until he returned home as I had not seen him in 2 years.

we had a great time catching up and chatting about when we were kids.  we even went flying in my sister"s boyfriend Pete's microlight and plane my adult children really enjoyed it. Pete took me over the farm that we live in and even over the Mid Mar Dam in Howick in his plane, It was awesome. I was not brave enough for the mirolight but mayb next time I will give it a go.

It was sad to say goodbye to my brother last Monday 6 January 2014 when he left and went back to Parays O.F.S. that is in South Africa where he lives.

On Tuesday and Wednesday I stopped in to say happy new year and spent some time with Abby. Abby has a cute little shop on the premises where they have turned a beautiful old house into a restaurant which is called "23 on Tea" in Pietermaritzburg. I bought new fabric, The Australian Bear Creations magizine from her amoung other stuff. We chatted about bears etc and order cappachino and scones from the restaurant. I really enjoyed spending time with Abby.

Abby has really lovely furs of high quality.

Thursday I decided to carry on with my bear.

the fabric is Kohair very beautiful and soft to the touch and the paw pads is ultra suede without a baking very soft, this I bought from  Lynette Kennedy of  Fred-i-Bear in JHB some time ago. what I order Lynette will post to me, so no need to travel up to JHB.  I just love this Kohair fabric.

As I lost most of my bear making tools when I moved in June last year, I ordered the tools I needed from Lynette and some Kohair and Ultra suede this time in pink.  I am wanting to make a little pink elephant in that.  I am thinking of naming her thunder.

Back to the bear I am busy making.

Attached you will find a picture of his paws.  I have used a new technique for his feet and I am pleased with the end result. I am going to be using other techniques as well. I am thinking of giving him an open mouth.

I must say I am really enjoying experimenting with different techniques on this bear and positive he going to turn out great.

Soon I will have a brand new beige long pile bear up on my blog,  He/she is starting to take shape, not sure if it is going to be a little girl or boy, really enjoying working on this bear.


I am very happy to say that in the last week or so I have had new followers on my blog and some lovely vistors from United kingdom, Adelaide South Australia, Poland and South Africa.

Hi friends here is the collection of Halcyon Bears.  They are made from mohair and are fully jointed with glass eyes.  I am very attached to them.  I made them in the late 90s.  I started making bears around 1998 and I am proud to say I taught myself with help from a bear shop in Durban. I hand picked these for my private collection all the rest I sold unfortunately I never took any photos of them.  Hope my vistors enjoy them as much as I do. Will put a few individual photos up shortly.

My Laptop up and Running

Hi friends

Been having trouble with my internet connection and internet explorer from my laptop this has been a problem for awhile now, now I have loaded windows 7 onto my computer and a antivisus programme and I am glad to say all is working perfect.

I am now able to connect from home and not relie on blogging during lunch time or when I have a free moment.

Well I am back at work my week's leave is something of the past did not get much done as I was trying to sort out my computer, I had to take all my photos, programes etc and copy to CDs which was quite a large job has I had a huge amount of family photos.  The weather did not help either as some days it was over 40 degrees that is cellcers.

Now that my computer is working and I am not stressing about it I can now focus on making my bears.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hi Friends

Sorry this is a few days late, but been having problems with my laptop, so had to wait to use my work computer.

I wish you all a very happy new year and to all those bear makers out there all the sucess with your creations.

I been busy with visitors over Christmas and new year so have not done much.  Had my Brother and sister in law visiting and my special Pal from the UK, have not seen her in two years so we been catching up and doing things together.

Will be sad to say goodbye to her again when she goes back next tuesday but we have enjoyed the time spent.
